the preparation of the presentation

We have finished our first presentation. It definitely costs us enormous energy to prepare.
The moment we were informed that the topic of our presentation should be concerned about what we learned these days, I came up with the idea that I could say something about the acquisition of the national enterprise. But my friends were surprised at my topic. For usually I did not pay much attention to business, they were confused why I chose this topic. Actually, the reason was simple. I heard about lots of acquisition of the famous enterprises, such as IBM, volvo and huiyuan. I felt cautious why such excellent enterprises were taken over by others. So by this opportunity, I wanted to have an acquaintance of the acquisition.
Although I was interested in this topic, there were many difficulties during my preparing. The toughest one was, as I had mentioned, I was not professional about this topic. At first, I even did not know how to define the “acquisition”. So I referred to some materials to acquaint myself with this topic. In addition, I needed to avoid using too much proper words. Otherwise, my classmates may not understand what I said and lost interested in my topic.
Secondly, I did not find the plentiful supporting data. My assumption was to show the earning report of the xiaohushi from 2000 to 2010 to my classmates, so they could have a directly acquaintance about how it quit the history stage. However, I searched a large number of websites including the official website and did not find it. Perhaps this was the commercial secret. So the only thing I could do was just to say xiaohushi faded out. I felt it was not as convincing as I assuming.
Another problem was that there were plenty aspects I could choose from and I felt difficult to find the most suitable one. For instance, jili purchased volvo. Volvo had a long history and was admired as the securest car in the world. But jili was even not very famous in China. Some people commented that it was like snake swallowing the elephant. I wondered whether jili could shoulder the huge deficit of volvo. And that Lenovo purchased the IBM PC was also interesting. Nevertheless, I cut these aspects away to ensure that the topic was dispersed.
The presentation came to end and I really learned a lot from this.
