Give journal 2

Journal 2

This was my second time to teach p4 students calligraphy.

Hearing that art teacher will be there, to be honest, I felt a little nervous.

· First of all, when I stand in front of the classroom before the class, can I behave like a teacher?

· Second, I gained almost all my skills by self-learning, which means that I did not get systemic education. This is also an issue that beset me for a long time. Even though I am confident that I can do well, I am still fear professional criticize.

Even though there was hesitation in my mind, I still believed that I had something to give.

This time boys and girls were relatively more excited than last time because they could use brush pen to “draw Chinese characters”. Here I just write down some important points. Listed as follows:

1. In fact, these students have got used to listening to English rather than Chinese. Listening to an unfamiliar language, especially when I need to introduce some simple Chinese history and ancient liberties, is boring for them, so they tend to abstract. ---First try to use English; second learn some skills.

2. I need to learn to use the multimedia in the classroom. It wasted a lot of time to prepare the ppt. I need to show them some videos and music.

3. Save my ppt as the normal format so that most pc can read.

4. Avoid those technical items. Their knowledge of Chinese history and Chinese characters is very limited, let alone for p4 students. Education is a long way to go. Now I got to understand and more respect my primary school teachers. Teaching needs patience and affection.

5. Never hope that they can absorb and comprehend all the things you have presented. I spent one and a half hours to teach them how to hold the pen and how to draw a beautiful horizontal line and vertical line. I must admit that on one can write well without long-term training and exercise.

6. Take one step behind, I want to guide them to fall in interest in calligraphy and have a little blurring concept of the beauty of Chinese characters. And in the process, I want to encourage one or two promising students to do more exercise.

7. Every child is very lovely. They want to touch new stuff and always do not follow teachers’ instructions. They want to run forward to discover new things. They cannot wait to apply what they have learned to describe their future. All these remind me of my memory about the childhood. I told them as what my teacher once told me, take it easy, don't rush and lay a firm foundation for a better future. I am mature now. I have become the one who I cannot even imagine ten years ago. This is life/

  1. Looked like you had a very interesting experience standing in front of a class of primary school pupils! So how did the class behave? They were excited, I could tell, but were they also 'naughty'?
