After the progress test, we went to National Museum of Singapore and Singapore Art Museum to have our learning journey two.
In National Museum of Singapore, I visited Singapore History Gallery. Just like the literal meaning, it exhibited Singapore’s history from the 14th century to the modern period. It took a story-telling approach to guide us to explore the Singapore’s history, which was dramatically different from it in china. In museums in China, plentiful exhibitions were on display. Most of them were historical relics and they restored the history in an objective method. However, National Museum of Singapore showed the history in a vivid way. Every of us was provided with a companion, which told us the stories behind those exhibitions. There were two paths we could choose---Events path and Personal path and I appreciated the latter one. It showed the life of the populace. They were nobodies in history but they reflected the real history. I was impressed by the students who suffered the racial discrimination but still fighted for the equal. I felt sorry for the carters of the rickshaw who struggled to support their family.
Singapore Art Museum collected the artworks all over the world. I like those three-dimensional works. There was a painting lay in the rack and the content of that painting was some bottles lay on a rack. Because of the chiaroscuro, I did not realize that it was a painting. I believed that they were real objects. The learning gallery also leaved a favorable impression on me. All the works were selected for the young visitors. There were lively discussions for each work, from which we could had a fundamental acknowledge of the art. They roused my interest in art. This embodied the goal of a museum. That was to introduce art to the people who knew little about art and guided them to appreciate the art.
There are many museums but these two museum have their characteristic, which distinguish them from others.
