About choosing majors

Next week, we are going to choose our majors. After considering for a long time, I choose Statistics. Firstly, I do not want to do a lot of experiments, so I will not choose Engineering. Secondly, studying in SoC requires me to stay in front of the computer for a long time, which is not good for my health. Therefore, although Information System is very attractive, I will not choose it.

Finally, in Science, Statistics is almost the easiest to get a good job. Moreover, it does not consist of so many courses, so that it is kind of easy. That means I can have more spare time to do what I would like to do, such as learning other subjects or participating in activities. In addition, it does not have a quota, so that I can enter it as long as I apply for it. That is safer than other choices.

I have heard of lots of people who want to major in Statistics; perhaps their reasons are almost the same as mine. However, I also know someone who wants to learn life science. It is a common knowledge that life science is very tough even for locals, not to mention us. Every two or three seconds, you will meet a new word. I do not think I can bear it. Thus, every year, very few students major in it. When I heard that one of my roommates wanted to choose life science, I was amazed! She knew it was difficult, and she knew it was difficult to get a job, but she insisted. Just because she likes it! I really admire her for her insistence and her courage. When we are making our decisions, we consider too much about other things, such as prospect and career. What we do forget is the interest in our hearts which is also the most important. As long as she insist, with all her interests and efforts, I think she is sure to study well and have a bright future.

  1. I cannot agree with you more. When some of us choose our majors, we consider our careers and prospects too much. I really appreciate your roomates because she is brave enough to follow her heart. In addition, I think it is sensible to choose Statistic. You clearly know what you want and what is suitable for you. You follow your heart as well.Good luck with you!

  2. I cannot be as brave as your roommate, although I like life science. Sometimes, I cared about whether it will be convenient for me to work near my home, not like some jobs that I will have to stay at some places for a long time. When you talked about your roommate, have you came under her influence?
