Learning Journey

After the long, exhausting Progress Test 2, our Learning Journey 2 came at last, which I was looking forward to for a long time. Because the first Learning Journey really impressed me a lot, I felt too impatient to wait this time. I was told that we would go to the National Museum and the Art Museum. In consideration that I would learn something about the history and the art of Singapore, I was really excited.
The first stop of my group was the National Museum. The building of the museum was so splendid that with the limited time, we can only visit a few parts of the whole museum. My group was arranged to visit the history exhibition which I thought was the largest part of the National Museum. It was also what I expected to visit. At the entrance of the history exhibition, one of the staff gave each of us an electronic machine. She told us that according to the number of the floor, we could use the machine to listen to the introduction of the items on display. With the great curiosity, we entered the history exhibition.
However, to my disappointment, the items on display were not exactly what I expected. Compared with the history of China, Singaporean history was so modern. The items here included the original television set, the original broadcast and even some decorations which could not be called “history” in China. They were really boring. In addition, the period when Singapore was controlled by England and Japan was also showed in this exhibition district. It did introduce the history of Singapore, but it did not interest me either. During the whole trip in the National Museum, no thrill, no excitement, everything seemed so ordinary.
After we finished visiting the National Museum, we came to the Art Museum, which was located nearby. We hoped to find some interesting works of art, but disappointment came for a second time. Except some Chinese paintings that we could recognize what was on, others were too abstract for us to understand. Even some terrifying things related to death appeared in the Art Museum. We even suspected whether it was the problem of our appreciation ability or not. All in all, it was a boring trip again.
After we got back to our dormitory, many of us directly went to bed. It was a really exhausted day, both mentally and physically. The annoying test and the disappointing journey destroyed the whole day.
