Why I love museums

Last Wednesday, we had our learning journey two, which was to visit national museum and art museum. Actually, before this trip, I myself had already visited both two museums in March. Yet just like a famous author once said, you will always find different new ideas every time you go to the same place. Museum is such a spot where I can harvest a lot whenever visiting.
After the intense progress test, learning journey can always get us relaxed. However, visiting museums has commonly been considered as a tiring work both in physical and mental. I admit that point but at the same time, I should say it really changed my opinions about history, made me build the concept of beauty, and helped me recognized the values of life.
With a history dating back to its inception in 1887, the national museum of Singapore is the nation’s oldest museum with a young soul. Designed to be the people’s museum, the national museum is custodian of the 11 national treasures, and its history and living galleries adopt cutting-edge and varied ways of presenting history and culture to redefine conventional museum experience. In addition, I really prefer the European-style appearance of the national museum. There is no doubt that it is the cultural and architectural landmark in Singapore. The Singapore history gallery explores 700years of eventful history from the 14th century to the modern period through a multi-layered, experiential story-telling approach. Visitors entering the gallery are first surrounded by a dramatic symphony with a montage of flashing scenes of contemporary Singapore projected on the 360°inner wall of the Glass Rotunda. This sets the atmosphere for a journey via a spiral pathway into the depths of the 2800 square-meter gallery. On the other hand, through the themes of film, photography, food and fashion, these living galleries also present the complexities of the country’s history, and the layered, multicultural identity of its people. Similarly, Singapore art museum provides us the fantastic world in the artists’ eyes from a different angle, which left me a deep impression.
On the way back to my hostel, I was just thinking about my previous attitude and views of this world. The past has been written into the history, while it does become the mirror for its descendants to learn.
