FIRST LESSON OF C PROGRAM AND Calculus in SINGAPORE

On 21 January I had my first lesson of C program and Calculus in Singapore.

Before entering the university, C program had been so mysterious for me and I always thought it was advanced and professional which should be studied by experts. As a result of it, I had even stupidly thought the use of it was just for showing off. But when I became an undergraduate I was absolutely astonished to be told that it was a subject I had to learn like math and English. You can imagine, as a person who knew nothing about computer how nervous I felt when I started my first C program lesson with English. With the lesson going on I got the confidence gradually, because the content was just some fundamental knowledge and simple comprehension of computers. I was sure that I get almost every word teacher said and his vivid explanation even stimulated me to learn further. Now I regard C program as a new language like English and Chinese and am not afraid of it anymore.

It is time for Calculus. I had heard that mathematics we learned in China was much more difficult than that here and what they learned in the university was what we learned in senior high school. So I felt very confident about the Calculus lesson. The fact was just as that I imagined before. The tutor only teached us some conclusions I had known before and some examples with obvious answer. Though the lesson was not interesting, I observed the tutor was a person I admired who concentrated on academic research.

This was a day which was not related to English totally. I enjoyed it.

  1. In my view, C language is relatively easier than the natural languages like English and Chinese because it is not so complex and involved with so many social activity. But it needs more math skills. So I think that is why they put these two classes together.
