Memory wanders as shadows fall. Back to the days of happiness. Days beyond recall. A vision comes before us, so calm, so dear, so sweet, of her lips now silent and whose lids are closed in sleep.
----From the ‘obituaries’
Just like usual, I opened the newspaper, and grabbed something entertaining. It was of great shock when suddenly the obituaries jumped in front of me. In China, we did not put the obituaries in newspaper which might arose the feeling of sadness. There came a piece of obituary. The picture of an old couple showed serenity. The obituary was arranged by their children and grandchildren. And they just said, ’Thank you for the fond memories we shall cherish forever. Though the words were simple, it conveyed the greatest thankfulness and the sweet memories to everyone reading it.
I cannot help thinking, ’Who will still remember me and miss me after many years since I am gone?’ If we have something left in the world, no matter where we go after our death, we may still be called alive! It is memories that enable us to prove we used to lead a meaningful life.
Memory wanders as shadows fall. Back to the days of happiness. Days beyond recall. A vision comes before us, so calm, so dear, so sweet, of her lips now silent and whose lids are closed in sleep.
