We are really excited and happy as the Spring Festival, the most important festival in China,is around the corner.
On Chinese New Year's eve, all family members will get together and have a delicious dinner, chatting and laughing.During the dinner ,it is a tradition to watch the Spring Festival celebration, which consists of wonderful dance ,drama and song performances. The fireworks will be let off at the midnight, which is said to frighten the monster called “Nian”. Then ,we celebrate the new year and eat dumplings ,in one of which there is a coin. Whoever eat the special dumpling will have good luck in the new year.
On the first day , parents will give children red envelopes containing some money as gifts for growing up .Besides,we will go to the neighbours’houses and enjoy chatting with them. Sometimes, we will play cards for fun . Each door is covered with the red paper where the Chinese poem is written . What is interesting is that the majority of people dress in red because red represents luck and success in Chinese history.
During the following holiday, we will have parties with friends and colleagues. Some plan a tour while some prefer to stay at home and enjoy the festival.
This year, although I cannot stay with my family, I am really happy to celebrate the festival with my classmates and seniors in Singapore. We are going to NTU and eat dumplings together. I believe the festival will be an impressive memory in my life.
Wish all of us a happy Chinese New Year!
