From last year to this year…

Last year I got a wonderful chance and made a significant decision which was to go to Singapore for undergraduate study. It is my first time to go abroad. I feel excited, surprised and worried at the same time. Whatever, it is clear to me that the travel will be a great change in my life.

Until today, I have been here for more than one month. During the first month in an unfamiliar country, I have come across a lot of fantastic people and experienced many unforgettable things. By the chance, I gradually got a better understanding of Singapore.

The first impression is the hot and wet weather that I felt as soon as I got off the airplane with my both hands dragging heavy luggage. In the following three days, it is really hot for me who comes from a country where it is almost freezing cold everywhere then. However, I feel it comfortable to sweat in the day time and get cooler in the evening now. Besides, Singapore is a well known garden city in the world. It is totally true in my opinion since I was in the bus from airport to parry hall and see the green carpet over the whole city.

The second impression is the friendly people ready to help us once we have any problems. There is such a group called Befrienders from NUS who met us on the first day we came here, showed us around Singapore, leaded us to play many remarkable games and shared valuable friendship with us. I remember it clearly that we enjoyed much delicious food with dear befrienders in Vivo City, Harbourfront. It can hardly fade away that we, group 2 with our lovely leading befrienders, practiced our unbelievable performance every night in the gym of parry hall to prepare for talentime show and that we won the first prize with a lot of fancy snacks as an award at last. I can never forget the sweetest smiles on our faces and true friendship between every member. During the time along with these locals, we shared our various feelings and got used to lives here better.

The third impression is the beautiful NUS campus, easy-going teachers and lovely classmates. Every morning, I get on the “rainbow car” with my active classmates sharing ideas. In the classroom, experienced and helpful tutors take us to a colourful journey of English learning where we get more knowledge, improve our ability of using English and think deeper… This journey has just begun since we still have 7 months to go and explore. It is the right time for us to set sail heading for our wonderful future.

This year is a precious chance for us to change our life into a totally different one. We are now proud of our university, NUS, such an outstanding university in the world. I believe we can do our best to work hard and get success in the future to make all the people around proud of us. Let’s go for it!
